$87,300 Said No Twice. Friday's Book Is $15.8B

$87,300 Said No Twice. Friday's Book Is $15.8B.

BTC last ~$86,000. Monday closed $85,600. Price tagged $87,300 on Monday and tagged it again on Tuesday. Rejected both times. Same high twice is a ceiling until a close says otherwise.

The $82,250 gateway was taken on the way to that close. That level is done being the story. $87,300 is the story.

The 10-year has left the 5.00% pin from FOMC week. Last print about 4.93%. A small ease, not a new regime. It is still the rate that competes with this asset.

The bid that coincided with the range break was the ETF tape. US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $998.95 million on Monday, the largest single day since October 6, 2025, per Farside. Tuesday added $714.75 million. Four sessions, September 17 through 22, roughly $2.31 billion after $746.31 million left on September 15 and 16. IBIT, ARKB, and FBTC did the week. That is the flow that aligned with the move.

ETF flows do not prove causation. They prove where institutional capital was moving while the price broke.

$87,300 Is a Different Problem

Price tagged it Monday and tagged it again Tuesday. Rejected both times. Same high twice is a ceiling until a close says otherwise.

The squeeze that paid Monday is not stacked at $87,300. The next dense short fuel on the liquidation map sits toward $90,000. A close through $87,300 is the door. $90,000 is where the forced bid gets loud.

Coinbase premium is still negative. This leg is ETF and futures, not US spot cash. On-chain profit-taking is light for a 14% week off the $75,000 Warsh low. Either the holders are sitting or they have not started.

Strategy bought 950 BTC between September 14 and 20, cash, blended $79,670. Next to two ETF sessions it is a footnote. On the record.

Friday's Book

Friday is larger than when this column first flagged it. Deribit September 25 open interest is about $15.8 billion this morning, call-heavy: roughly $9.3 billion in calls against $6.5 billion in puts. Coinbase pointed at the $90,000 and $100,000 strikes. Max pain on that expiry has been living far under spot for days. That is the $10,000 gap.

The Senate killed CLARITY last week. Warsh hiked 25 basis points. The market is not trading either of those now. It is trading whether $87,300 is a cap or the next gateway.

Friday, September 25, 08:00 UTC. One of those two maps is wrong by the open.
