Bitcoin spent another week stuck under the same ceiling. It ran to $87,219 in the hour of Friday’s jobs release and was back at $83,841 inside six hours. This morning’s high, near $86,960, was lower than that. Next up is the long end: a $39 billion ten-year auction and the Fed minutes on Wednesday, then a $22 billion thirty-year on Thursday.

The Scorecard

Against last week’s brief, the line was a daily close back over $84,300. Price did reclaim that into the jobs print and has held it on the 4H since early Saturday. What didn’t happen: no retest of $82,250. The week’s low was about $82,560 on Sep 28. The $80,000 trigger never came into play, and the True Market Mean wasn’t tested.

What the Jobs Print Left Behind

September payrolls printed +29,000 versus a consensus around 90,000. The ten-year dipped to about 5.16% on the release and closed near 5.28%. The error band on that payrolls number is roughly ±122,000, so it’s one noisy month, and the jobs post has the full read. On the charts, Bitcoin’s high landed in the hour of the release, and the selloff ran through the session while yields bounced back.

The Ladder Above the Shelf

The $87,300 area has rejected price three times: $87,354 on Sep 21, $87,272 on Sep 23, $87,219 on Oct 2. This morning’s $86,960 high is a fourth poke, and a lower one. Above that it gets crowded fast. The brightest liquidation band sits around $87,450. Bitfinex analysts had $87,722, the yearly open, as the top of their quarter-end range. Then $90,000, and the $92,000 to $97,000 zone Glassnode flagged in its Week 38 note.

Under price: the $84,300 shelf, Glassnode’s $84,000 to $85,000 long-term holder block, then Friday’s $83,841 low. The $82,250 gateway has gone two weeks without a test. A daily close over $87,722 puts price above the yearly open. A daily close under $84,300 gives the shelf back.

Leverage Is Rebuilding Slowly

Leverage is creeping back. Futures open interest fell to about $52.4B on Sep 30 and is near $54.7B this morning, still roughly $6.8B under the Sep 22 peak. OI-weighted funding is positive again, around +0.005%, about half the near +0.010% peak from around Sep 22.

US spot ETFs took in a provisional $82.9 million for the week after $2.39 billion the week before. Wednesday’s $148.7 million outflow broke a nine-day streak of about $3 billion.

The Data Wall

Wednesday is the $39 billion ten-year at 1 p.m. ET and the September minutes at 2 p.m. That meeting hiked the funds rate to 3.75% to 4.00%. Thursday is the $22 billion thirty-year. CPI is Oct 14. The ten-year closed Friday near 5.28% after tagging about 5.34%, the highest since 2002. The last thirty-year auction cleared at 5.31% with a 2.6 bid-to-cover.
